I have been attracted to staying at a mobile home since last summer. Unfortunately, I didn’t do a lot of traveling in 2020. Still, I managed to go on three separate vacations at mobile homes in Croatia in 2021, so there’s hope! Indeed, mobile home vacations are more and more popular in Croatia these days. You’ll be able to find fine camping and resort sites that offer mobile home options all around Croatia.
Here is all you need to know and consider before you book a mobile home vacation in Croatia!
Mobile homes types
Mobile homes come in different sizes and luxury levels. From very basic to premium luxury ones, mobile homes can fit any traveler’s budget and requirements. Book one, two, or three-bedroom mobile home – whatever suits you best! One-bedroom mobile homes are usually around 20m2. Two-bedroom mobile homes stand at around 40-44m2. A third bedroom adds another 10m2 to the overall size.

Most of the mobile homes in Croatia are manufactured by the Slovenian company Adria Group which “is engaged in the production and marketing of mobile homes and modular buildings, floating homes and high-quality glamping tents” (in their own words). Both of our vacations at Amadria Park were in Adria mobile homes. Our third vacation at a mobile home was in a Nord mobile home at Vransko Lake Camp Crkvine. Nord is a Croatian mobile homes manufacturer and they seem to be doing a very nice job.

Mobile homes equipment
All mobile homes have a small kitchen and eating area inside. The kitchen does not usually include an oven, so be sure to check that if an oven is a must for you. Some even include your own barbeque, so it really depends whether you book a more basic option, or a sea view luxury mobile home.

One of the best features is probably the covered terrace that most mobile homes in Croatia are equipped with. It includes a large table for six and/or sunbeds. Even if it rains, you can still sit and enjoy yourselves outdoors.

Capacity
The most common mobile homes can accommodate up to six people. However, two of them have to sleep on a sofa bed at the living/dining room, which is probably not the most comfortable option. My advice is to book separate bedrooms for all travelers within your group. For instance, our family of three always books a mobile home with two bedrooms and two bathrooms. The larger bedroom is for mommy and daddy, and the smaller one – for our little girl.

This sofa is fine but it is not as comfy as the bed on the next pic, right?

Prices
Pricing is based on the total capacity of the mobile home and stays the same no matter how many people stay at the accommodation at the same time. Then there comes the season. Booking in spring and autumn comes much cheaper than booking during the high summer season when everyone wants to have their summer vacation. An average off-season price comes at between EUR 40 and 80, while you’ll need to pay between EUR 150 and 220 in summer.

Advantages
Safe travel choice
Mobile homes are definitely a safe travel choice in these uncertain times. What I mean is the traveler gets his own small house, his own entrance and private space. In comparison, staying at a hotel usually means using elevators, having breakfast with many other tourists, etc. Here’s more on how to choose a safe travel accommodation.

Cozy… with a nice view, too
Cozy and cute
Staying at a mobile home is definitely a cozy experience. You have all you need at a small cute house with a terrace. The sea is probably nearby and it is very easy to enjoy yourself.
Close to nature
Mobile homes are usually part of camping sites, glamping residences, or larger vacation resorts. This means you will probably stay somewhere in nature enjoying the fresh air and fine activities that the place provides. If you are not the camping type staying in tents and using shared toilets and showers, a vacation at a mobile home can bring you very close to the camping experience.

Being so close to the sea is just awesome
Disadvantages
Insects
Close to nature is not always a positive thing when it comes to accommodation. What I mean is that the mobile homes are usually part of a camping resort and many insects will have interest in checking what is going on in your mobile home. Ants, mosquitos, and similar creatures were very much into one of the bathrooms during our first mobile home vacation. Especially ants! We literally had to fight them with some spray. Yet, they were pretty much over the place for most of our 10-day stay.

Thin walls and noise
Being constructed the way they are, even the most comfortable and luxurious mobile homes come with very thin walls. You will overhear the conversation in the next room with no effort, for example. Same applies to toilet noises, unfortunately : ) If it rains, the rain will probably wake you up.
Neighbors
At some camping sites mobile homes are located very close to each other, sometimes within a few meters. Once again, this could mean additional noise. I tried to nap one afternoon at our mobile home but the neighbors from the next mobile home were having a late lunch with normal conversations, so I couldn’t sleep. Maybe it is just me not being a deep sleeper, but consider some noise form the neighbors can bother you.
